During MIOSM, students will listen to a music example or watch a YouTube or Vevo video that will feature a musical composition/performance from a 'classical' composer, singer, group, songwriter, or music industry icon that was born or passed away during the month of March. These examples will be played at the end of morning prayer. Challenge yourselves to listen to each other's generational music this month, sing karaoke, or start studying how to play an instrument. Do something musical in honor of MIOSM!
All classes are continuing to explore the concept of melody. From Kindergarten exploring high/low sounds and how sounds move up/down to eighth grade listening to, comparing, and contrasting compositions during the Baroque period of music history.
Due to snow days and delays, assessments have been few. I have been using Alfred's Music Theory Unit review questions, some melodic direction worksheets, and eventually the Garage Band app on the student iPads to provide fourth through eighth grade with some assessments in music this trimester. Some assessments will be sent home for parental signature and some will not, because they are part of a larger packet that we will continue to use in class until all pages are complete.
